Reminiscing About My First Time…
My first time appearing in a Newspaper as a Poet & Performer to this day still stands out as one of the most memorable moments in my life. As I sit in my bedroom reminiscing and daydreaming about once again being on stage and one day having my name in lights, I can’t help but long for my first loves; The Stage, The Mic, and the Words that help me share the love and hope that is inside of me. I want to do it again and again and again and again. I can’t wait.
Although the Newspaper (Crossroads News) was just a small local paper in my childhood Hometown of Decatur, GA, it is something that still seems bigger than life. The paper, which is now temporarily offline and no longer in print, highlighted good things that were happening in the community. The fact that they saw me as “a good thing” was that extra fuel that I needed to keep pushing forward. I am forever grateful to the writer and publication that helped this young girl continue to follow her dream of giving life through and from a Word. I guess that’s why they called it the Crossroads News.
